Tento pojem sa vzťahuje na získanie veľkého výnosu bez námahy. Príklad sa stal v sedemdesiatych rokoch 20. storočia, keď USA mali veľké zisky z dočasného nedostatku ropy.

Windfall Profits: an unexpected profit that resulted from significant changes in the market irrespective of the will of the profiteer. This term refers to gaining a large profit without effort. An example of this occurred in the 1970’s when the U.S. earned large amounts of profits from a temporary scarcity of oil.
